Special Thanks to:
•Sten, for letting me use his bike
•And of course, my wife and kids, for putting up with my crazy ideas and projects!
That's right, finally, a Pinebox exhaust for the Honda CBR's! I'm very excited for this project.
More/Other info is available on a 600RR.net forum thread here: First ever made Pinebox Exhaust for CBR

The plan is to pick up the "loaner" bike ('05 CBR 600RR) on Thursday, 11/11/10!
I hope to have a working prototype fit for show in approx. 4 weeks.

Plans include:
I'm not going to estimate a price just yet, other than it will be more than $1.00 and less than $1000.00. 1
I'm guessing it could be a bit more than the 07.v.2.0 exhaust. Only becuase I have to include a mid-pipe down to the header joint. But I will do all I can to keep the finished price reasonable.
I guess that's it for now! Keep checking back for more info and pics and the project gets going!

3/15/11:
The first production exhaust has shipped today!!
I hope this is a start to a very strong exhaust design from PineboxOnline.com!

3/7/11:
Well, if you scrolled down this far, you have seen the updates!
I have added the info for the F/E kits and the "race" headers!

2/23/11:
I have just about finished fabrication on the first 3 exhausts!
It has worked out that each of the 3, has opted for a different coating option. So, I can have pics of the different options very soon.
I am finalizing all the details on the "race" header and F/E kit. More info and prices coming soon!

1/26/11:
Ok, I did get the "race" header jig finished and did the first attempt at mod'ing the stock header.
You can't really see the angles involved in this pic, but it's not as simple of a mod as it looks.
Also, the final production version of the "race" header will vary a bit from this pic. Price is still TBD.

You can see where the header has been modified at the outlet side with a nice smooth mandrel bend. This will be the only part of the stock header to be changed. The center section of the header was cut out and replaced, but after cutting it out, there was nothing there to hinder performance. It was only a small expanded area of the header with something inside that I will leave up to the Honda engineers to know just what it's for.

Also, after some research, I have found that some 05/06 CBR 600RR headers have an oxygen (O2) sensor bung. I can't determine why or which bikes have which header. So, it will be up to you to let me know if you need (or want) one added.
I have ordered up another header with the O2 bung. I will have to add to my jig to locate it for future headers.
The plan is to offer my "race" header with or without the O2 bung. The bung will be stainless steel and welded in as close to the stock location as possible. I will also include a plug in case the bung is for future use.

I will get more pics of the this header and the stock header to show the comparison when the other header arrives.

12/23/10:
Final pricing and ordering information released!
Any new orders will go into the 20th Batch and estimated to ship in Apr. '11.

Thank you! To those that took advantage of the early deposit! You will get your 10% discount and be a part of the 19th batch!
Keep an eye out for my email next week to confirm the options for your exhausts.

Next up...F/E Kit and the "Race" header!

12/6/10:
Here are most of the materials. Some others are randoms I have in the shop. Also, the jig materials are shown.
The jig is finished, but I forget to get a pic. Maybe tomorrow.

More "exhaust" looking pics coming very, very soon!!!

12/1/10:
Ok, so the tubing materials are here for the prototype!
I have ordered the materials for the jig from the waterjet shop. I hope to have them early next week. I am still working out the details for the mid-pipe jig. But for the prototype, I can just "free hand" it. The mid-pipe jig will be done when the production pipes are done.

11/24/10:
Ok, so the first try at the mid-pipe layout was the best.
It's a good compromise between fit and if I can actually build it economically. Tighter fit = more parts = more labor = more $$.
Plus, with this layout, the exhaust should flow nicely, the maximum bend angle is only 45*.
The materials are on order for the working prototype. They should be here early next week.
I do have an estimated price, but I want to get the prototype finished before I release it. I will narrow the estimate from $1-$1000 to $400-$600.
I may add the early deposit button over the long weekend. So, check back! If I do, it will be for a limited number of spots on the next batch list.
Here is the final layout for the prototype:

11/19/10:
As far as the slip-on section goes, this fit is final. But I'm not real satisfied with the layout of the mid-pipe. I'm going to take some more time to try and get a better layout for the mid-pipe to make it look nicer and fit even better.

I should be able to get the mid-pipe re-designed over the weekend, and I will be able to order material for a working prototype next week!!!

11/17/10:
Progress has been quick so far. But it's only cardboard and tape.
Once I do get all the dimensions finalized, things will slow down to make the first working prototype and the jigs needed to reproduce it.
But here is a quick teaser of the mock-up in a VERY rough fit. It will suck up more into the tail when I get it all finished.

Tear down has begun...

I need to get the better camera out. doh
I do have most of the design worked out in my head. :) I need to get it on paper and start working on a cardboard mock-up.

Layout...

I need to verify fit and all dimensions with the mock-up. But this is the direction I'm going.

11/12/10:
GAME ON!!!!

11/8/10:
New page uploaded!
I have setup a pick-up time with Sten for this Thursday, 11/11.
